Overview
Preparing to be a dad has more to do with bravely facing the deep questions of your soul than mastering the mechanics of baby care (although, that?s really important too). Fatherhood is a journey of transformation and is without a doubt a life-changing experience. If a man is courageous enough to enter into this mysterious season, he will lay the groundwork for becoming an exceptional father, a passionate husband and a wiser man. Becoming a Dad is for a new father who desires to become more invested with his child, his marriage, his life and his life story. Becoming a Dad helps men get ready for this disruptive, redemptive and transforming experience called fatherhood by inviting them to engage in the process.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Disappointed  Nov 12, 2006
I don't want to give the book a bad write up because it's very well written. My problem is simple; too many references to god and religion. Don't get me wrong I am a believer in god; but I didn't buy the book with that in mind...

single best resource available  Aug 2, 2006
This book could very well be the single best rescource available on becoming a dad. It does well to blend spiritual, emotional, and practical advice soon-to-be dads (and and their wives) need to keep in mind as they prepare to become fathers. It helps soon-to-be dads work through all the "what if.." questions and offers solid practical advice on money issues and how to take a temporary back seat when the baby is born, how to blend spirituality and fatherhood, dealing all kinds of different emotions and the like. It is all there, and if it is not, then what is there can easily be applied to any given situation.

One reviewer said it is all "obvious" information. Right. If it was so "obvious" then why are there so many problematic dads who have no idea what they are doing or need to do to be good dads?

must-read for new dads  Mar 23, 2006
This book was not what I was expecting, but was more relevant than I ever would have thought! There are so many specifics in the book that I loved, but I'd be writing all day. Suffice it to say that Becoming A Dad really confronts the biggest fears of new and upcoming dads such as myself. I finished the book with many of my fears at ease. The book is brutally honest for the up and downs of fatherhood, and gives great practical advice for dealing with both. I will definetly pass this book along to other soon-to-be-dads.

Great encouragement   Feb 2, 2006
This book is written in a very approachable style by two guys who are not afraid to share their shortcomings along with their successes, allowing the rest of us to learn from their stories. In turn, we realize that our own shortcomings can be overcome and turned into positives. This book would also be great resource for moms interested in understanding a dad's perspective on parenting.

One of the Best Books I have ever Read!!!  Jan 4, 2006
My wife and I are having our first child in March 2005 and I was given this book as a gift. It is so poignant, so practical, and really gets to the heart of being a Father. I want to reread it at least a couple more times before March and will give it to others who are in my same position! Extremely helpful and a MUST READ for all Dads!
