The Story of Rose Publishing

Rose Publishing was started by a Sunday school teacher and a public school teacher in 1991. The mother-daughter team realized there were very few good Bible charts, time lines, and maps on the market for their classes and began creating their own. Other teachers started asking for the charts and the company was born.

From those few charts locally, to thousands of loyal customers worldwide today, Rose Publishing is the only Christian publisher that specializes in graphics-rich products. Rose has become known for providing quality products developed by expert authors, including professors and consultants from evangelical Christian colleges and seminaries. The management team and sales staff is made of up industry professionals with years of experience.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
A Useful Overview of the Facts  Sep 12, 2009
This 'Bible Translations Comparison' is a useful summary of popular English translations of the Bible, but it is important to emphasize the notion of 'summary' and 'popular'. On the one hand, the issues involved in selecting one translation over another run far deeper than one can cover in such a short pamphlet. For example, the term 'Word-for-word' to characterize some of the most important translations, such as the KJV, the RSV, and the NRSV is misleading. The only true word-for-word translations are the scholarly interlinear translations, which are not in this pamphlet. Also, there are advocates of the KJV who are at the throats of the NRSV partisans, and vice versa. Another small but misleading aspect is the dating of the KJV editions. I suspect the 1739 KJV did include the Apocrypha, but the edition you buy today does not, since the notes in the back say the Apocrypha was removed from Protestant Bibles in 1827. Regarding 'popular', I'm surprised the Douay Bible is not listed, as I suspect many Catholic households still consider that their Bible of choice, and feel no reason to 'trade up'. It is also useful to know that there are actually over 140 named English translations of the Bible, some of which are actually still available at better Bible stores, but are not on this list.

My primary objective with this review is to give you the sense that this pamphlet simply cannot give you the whole story. For that, I suggest you go to either Bruce Metzger's 'The Bible in Translation' or 'How to Choose a Translation for All Its Worth' by Gordon Fee and Mark Strauss.
