Social Security - A Wake-Up Call; Think Purple!

Four old codgers are sick and tired of the abuse and neglect which occurs daily in their old-folks-home. Max has a broken leg for getting involved as he tried to help his buddy Thomas with his bed pan. Unfortunately, Thomas is now in the intensive care unit at the county hospital. He's in a coma. Another resident, Marge Taylor; has been repeatedly beaten and raped and hasn't spoken a word since her tragic ordeal started. She was too afraid to report her cruel and inhumane treatment.

Loss of morale dictates as anxiety and pessimism have set in to say the least; thanks to the agony and shame that has been inflicted upon them by the so called system. Eventually, the shit hits the fan in protest and arrest. The press is having a field day, the old folks are demonstrating and the Four Amigo; Clarence, Max, Sarge and Henry are playing cards, conspiring to overthrow the system and make change by taking matters into their own hands as they vow to conquer Hell-Prudent-Paradise.

They actually hire a lawyer, Chi, Clarence's grandson who sues the state as well as the owners of Hell. The residents go wild with the idea and unite as they pool their resources and purchase Prudent Paradise in the Name of Love. They change its name to Social Security and become one big family; with a bar, pool, hot tubs, pets, the O-zone, and a Laugh Room. They learn to live and enjoy life again as sex is on their minds.

Clarence and his Amigos have their hands full. Sometimes he wonders if they bit off more than they can chew. He falls in Love which seems to be contagious. Unfortunately, life is dangerous. Together, they continue to address uncertainty as they confront destiny; in spite of its ups and downs. Their goal is to make change before it's too late and out of control. Thus, they devise a plan to challenge the troubles that are plaguing America today; which most citizens choose chose to ignore as the 'Elite Powers That Be' herds us like cattle into organized chaos.

This Novel is a little obscene, dramatic, provocative, and educational through a historical review, including several unnerving National Disgraces which have infected the world but were covered up in the Name of National Security. On a lighter note, it is also funny as well as bitter-sweet and a bit violent but then again, that's Life. For as Mark Twain proclaimed:

"Man is the only animal that blushes, the only one that needs to."

Hence, you will laugh and you will cry, but my aim is to STIMULATE your brain, connect the dots; so to speak and make you think. This is but a Wake-up Call. Frankly, the system itself is consuming the consumers. We are becoming slaves economically as our Individual Rights & Freedoms are cannibalized from within by own government; an Immaculate Deception

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Love it or Hate it  Nov 9, 2009

What can I say? I suspect this is a book that you either love or hate. I didn't love it. Basically, it is a series of rants against just about everything by foul-mouthed senior citizens obsessed with sex and bodily functions. Nursing homes/assisted living centers take a real hit in this book as places that routinely abuse and rape residents.

Near its end is where the real purpose of the book becomes clear. The author addresses his political agenda such as Amero, CFR-New World Order, UFO cover-ups, Aspartame, "swine flu", hemp and his hatred for Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, and George Bush. In the midst of the vulgarity there is even an attempt to bring about a spiritual message with misquoted Bible references. He directs the reader to several radical left-wing websites.

My view of the Federal government is that most of them are liars and thieves. Had the author written a non-fiction book with his world views with some references to back up his opinions, I may have been much more interested, but the book is just all over the place with disjointed ideas. The book ends on a low point when the author asked the country of Iran to forgive us Americans.

Some hilarious moments in the first part, the last segment is a painful political harangue  Oct 18, 2009
While this book has some initial very funny moments, it ends with a sequence of almost random diatribes that get very dull very quickly. Furthermore, there are so many misuses of words that at first I thought they were meant to be puns and then I realized that they were just senseless mistakes.
At the beginning, the book is amusing; "Social Security" refers to a group of elderly people that take over a facility for the aged. It becomes a wild place, best described by the paragraph on page 19.

"Sex was going on in half the rooms. Two of the condom dispensers jammed, but at least they were practicing safe sex. One resident gave Viagra to anybody and everybody that wanted it. One of the male residents got so excited that he literally had a heart attack. Thank God, he didn't die."

The Social Security group starts up a phone sex company as well as a bookmaking operation and makes an enormous amount of money. Through the first section of the book there are characters like Sexy Sarah, a pure hedonist that considers her large breasts to be a public utility that everyone should examine. Sarah is also a master educator, teaching the other women tricks with their tongues and other body parts. On page 101 there is the segment:
`"What is a g-Spot?" Betty asked earnestly. Sarah got the honors as she educated the less fortunate."
This part of the book is often amusing; the incongruity of the farce keeps your attention.
Unfortunately, the last section of the book is a rendition of every conspiracy theory ever concocted, from the stock Kennedy assassination to the concentration camps being prepared by FEMA. It is a bizarre section as there is no flow from one wild idea to another, the claims of conspiratorial activity just pop up one after another. Logic is lost in an apparent attempt to mention every conspiracy theory ever created in as short a time as possible.
Finally, there is the large number of inappropriate words appearing in the text. For example, on page 101, ".. Lucy had the pictures to bare witness." On page 194 there is the line in the context of illegal aliens, "Someday soon we are going to need our National Guard to guard certain boarders of ours." On page 214 there is the sentence "How long will it be before we have to give up our right to bare arms and turn all of our guns in?"
This book started out amusing and stayed that way until the author lost track of the story and turned it into a political harangue. At that point it became dull and painful to read.

Ten star WOW  Oct 7, 2009
Not sure if its because I am in the AARP group of men and women or because I am blessed with so many elders, many who are either eccentric or victims of neglect or even abuse until I and a couple others came along, but I love this book for a variety of reasons.

There is something uplifting about a group of feisty men and women who make you actually say 'YES!!!!!!' aloud as one reads silently to oneself. Its refreshing to read of elders who aren't willing to sit by and allow others to do with them what they will.

And yes, there is sex in the book and alas even some very blunt and to some readers, obscene language. But just because someone gets old doesn't mean they die to passion. The writing is such that one can visualize well how the scene being described would actually occur.

But its in Chapter 10, The Awakenings that I literally paused, stopped reading and looked around because I honestly felt I was part of an epiphany. This is where the book becomes so real life and current news story in storyline.

Bear in mind this book was begun before the H1N1 news stories and the author reminds us that in 1976 when chicken little news stories of the swine flu, were common and after 40 million people were vaccinated, we then read about those who had died because of the vaccine and that no such swine flu pandemic ever happened.

The book also does a great job of blending reality in a fictional novel. So well that when I read a webiste listed like http://www.b4heart.com and then http://www.spp.gov, I quickly found them on the Internet and then saw where New World Order, Ollie North, and other real people were discussed it held my attention. A great great blend of what has and is happening in the world.

And the book should hold your attention as well and remind you that something's fiction is more true than you realize.
