Item Description... Overview Critically examines the political career of the Alaskan governor and former vice-presidential candidate, from her role in the Republican 2008 election campaign to her future in politics.
Publishers Description The most honest, revealing account of the Palin story to appear this fall? You betcha! Sarah Palin has many faces: hockey mom, fundamentalist Christian, sex symbol, Republican ideologue, fashion icon, 'maverick' populist. But, above all, Palin has become one thing: an American obsession that just won't go away. Edited by two senior editors at The Nation magazine, this sharp, smart, up-to-the-minute book examines Palin's quirky origins in Wasilla, Alaska, her spectacular rise to the effective leadership of the Republican Party, and the nightmarish prospect of her continuing to dominate the nation's political scene. |

 | Treachery is afoot! Dec 25, 2009 |
This book almost makes me wish we were a socialist country so the government can control the publishing of books that are similar. This book was printed with the sole intention of being deceptive and it worked. I was meaning to buy this book as a gift and I saw Going Rouge and Sarah Palin. I obviously didn't look too close, but shame shame shame on the publishers for ruining one of my Christmas gifts!
You may like this book, but you ought not be happy I purchased this by mistake and gave it as a Christmas gift... I mean holiday gift.
Thumbs down! | | | | This is NOT the book by Sarah Palin Dec 24, 2009 |
| I bought this book for my mom, thinking that it was the book by Sarah Palin. Wow! Were we in for a shock. If you are looking for her book, look for "Sarah Palin: Going Rouge." I wonder how many people buy this one by mistake? What a waste. | | | | The Complete Story Dec 24, 2009 |
This book is excellent! Within its pages is compiled a compilation of writings from different people with different points of view, with clear facts to back them up.
Her loyal following of anti-American teabaggers will hate this book (because they hate facts), those who love this Country and are trying to make progress will rightfully enjoy the writings that clearly point out the train wreck we've come to know as Sarah Palin.
Highly recommended!

Created and published with the self-identified purpose of capitalizing on the success of Sarah Palin's book, this is a hastily compiled collection of essays published in the wake of John McCain's addition of Palin to the GOP ticket. Some essays (notably Matt Taibbi's "Mad Dog Palin") are worth reading a second time, but most of the work in this collection comes off as dated, partisan grumbling. Some essays are so poorly rendered that one wonders if they were written on deadline over half a bottle of Chardonnay at 4:00 a.m.; excusable for newspaper or blog pabulum, but not altogether worthy of being published in a book.
The contributors, editors and publisher of "Going Rouge" are committed progressives with a genuine interest in political matters; which is what makes the book itself such an oddity. There is very little political savvy in its pages. There is plenty of scoffing, loads of eye-rolling, some haughty indignation, and occasionally some well-crafted zingers... but almost no serious political acumen. There is also nothing new or noteworthy. On any given day, a red-blooded lefty can revel in a limitless supply of pithy and intelligent commentary on Sarah Palin online - this book is not merely underwhelming, it's unnecessary. | | | Write your own review about Going Rouge: An American Nightmare
